Dr. Amy Valenta PT, DPT, OCS received her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Colorado Health Science Center. She graduated as the president of her class and received the Mary Gosnell Award for Clinical Excellence. Her Bachelor’s in Kinesiology was completed at the University of Northern Colorado with an emphasis on fitness and exercise. Dr. Valenta has achieved certification through the American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopedic Certified Specialist and is a Certified Clinical Instructor. She has received extensive training in manual therapy, neuroreducation and therapeutic exercise techniques for the spine and extremities.
Dr. Valenta is the Medical Coordinator for the Glendale Rugby Football Club and owner of Denver Back Pain Specialists, Infinity Physical Therapy and Sports Rehabilitation and Catalyst Athletic Performance. She has traveled both domestically and internationally with the USA National Rugby Team for the last 10 years.
Dr. Valenta’s professional organizational memberships include the American Physical Therapy Association and it’s Orthopedic, Sports and Private Practice Sections, American College of Sports Medicine, Colorado Sports Organization, United States Rugby Association and both the University of Colorado and University of Colorado Alumni Associations.
Dr. Valenta has given several professional presentations on topics related to manual therapy, exercise, fitness, ergonomics, concussions and injury prevention. Her approach to patient care is to start with a thorough evaluation and then build a patient specific treatment plan, which integrates their individual goals. Intervention may include manual therapy, neuroreducation, therapeutic exercise, modalities and always a home exercise program. Patient empowerment and education on how to decrease pain, along with, preventing reoccurrence is the key to success with any rehabilitation program.
